Guwahati Airport Launches International Operations from Terminal 2, Boosting Global Connectivity

In a major milestone for aviation infrastructure in Northeast India, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, has officially commenced international flight operations from its newly developed Terminal 2 (T2).The launch marks a significant step in the airport's journey towards becoming a key international gateway for the region. The first international departure from Terminal 2 was the Guwahati-Paro flight, while the first international arrival was a flight from Singapore.To commemorate the occasion, airport authorities organized a traditional Assamese welcome for passengers. The celebrations included Gamusa felicitation, ceremonial lamp lighting, cake cutting, sapling distribution, and welcome drinks for arriving travelers,

showcasing Assam's rich cultural heritage and hospitality.The event witnessed the participation of key stakeholders from across the aviation and security ecosystem, including representatives from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Customs, Immigration, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), airlines, and airport management teams.Airport officials described the commencement of international operations from Terminal 2 as a landmark achievement that will enhance passenger convenience while strengthening the region's connectivity with international destinations.The new terminal is expected to play a crucial role in handling the growing volume of international traffic and supporting the economic and tourism aspirations of Northeast India.
