Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted India's growing relationship with Nordic countries and talked about ways to further strengthen bilateral ties in areas such as clean energy, trade, sustainability and digitalisation. Speaking during the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Norway's Oslo, Prime Minister Modi thanked Prime Minister of Norway for hosting this Summit and said, "Democracy, rule of law, and the shared commitment to multilateralism make India and Nordic countries natural partners." "We have seen special progress in our relations with Nordic countries in last few years. In 10 years, our bilateral trade has increased about 4 times. Investment fund of Nordic countries is becoming an important partners in India's rapid growth,"
the Prime Minister said, adding, "In the last decade, investment from Nordic countries into India has increased by about 200%. It has also played a very positive role in the economy of Nordic countries, and created thousands of new jobs."PM Modi further talked about the trade associations between India and the Nordic countries and said, "From October 2025, we have brought Trade and Economic Partnership into effect with Norway, Iceland and other EFTA (European Free Trade Association) nations. Just a few months ago, we signed the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, which also has Denmark, Finland and Sweden as partners. With this ambitious trade agreement, we are going to initiate a new golden age for relations between India and the Nordic countries."
India, Nordic Nations To Elevate Ties With Green Technology
India and the Nordic countries on Tuesday decided to elevate their relationship to a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership to bolster cooperation in areas such as clean and green transition, trade and investments and blue economy. The development came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with his Nordic counterparts in Norway."Today, we decided to give India-Nordic relations the form of Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership.
