NSIL is the commercial branch of ISRO. AST SpaceMobile is developing a unique, first-of-its-kind space-based cellular broadband network that works directly with standard
smartphones, aimed at serving both commercial users and government needs.
The BlueBird Block-2 mission would deploy a next-generation satellite designed to provide high-speed cellular broadband connection directly to smartphones worldwide. The mission is part of a global LEO constellation that aspires to provide direct-to-mobile connectivity through satellite, ISRO announced.“This will facilitate 4G and 5G voice and video calls, texts, streaming and data for everyone, everywhere at all times," the organisation added.AST SpaceMobile had previously launched five satellites, Bluebird 1-5 in September 2024, which provide nonstop internet coverage throughout the United States of America and other countries.
