In a narrow escape, three Indian army officers survived after their Cheetah helicopter crashed in the mountainous Tangste region near Leh. According to sources, the two helicopters were returning from strategic location when one of them crashed.The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 20), but was reported on Friday (May 22). Three officers, including a Major General, survived the crash and walked away with injuries described as non-critical.A Lieutenant Colonel and a Major were piloting the single-engine helicopter, while the passenger onboard was Major General Sachin Mehta, General Officer Commanding of the 3 Infantry Division.The Army has launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the crash. Meanwhile, the officials termed the survival
of all three officers as “nothing short of a miracle” given the difficult mountainous terrain in the region.
