In a landmark recognition for India's intellectual property ecosystem, Justice Prathiba M Singh of the Delhi High Court has become the first Indian judge to be inducted into the Intellectual Property (IP) Hall of Fame by IAM, a leading international publication focused on IP law and policy.Justice Singh received the honour at a ceremony held in San Diego, United States, on June 16, 2026. She was recognised for her significant contribution to the development of intellectual property jurisprudence in India and for helping shape the country's modern IP framework. The recognition also acknowledged her work beyond the courtroom in strengthening intellectual property awareness and institutions.Justice Singh currently serves as Chairperson of the Advisory
Board of Judges at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).Accepting the honour, Justice Singh highlighted India's growing prominence in the global intellectual property landscape."India is at a defining moment in its IP journey and is making remarkable progress in the field. This year alone, more than 1.5 lakh patent applications have been filed in the country, reflecting the scale of innovation taking place," she said.She also pointed to the establishment of dedicated Intellectual Property Divisions in the Delhi High Court and several other high courts, which have created specialised forums for the resolution of IP disputes."India has emerged as a preferred jurisdiction for intellectual property matters. I believe this induction into the IP Hall of Fame is not only a personal honour but also recognition of India's growing leadership in the IP space," Justice Singh added.
