Champat Rai, former General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, on Tuesday broke his silence on the Ram Temple donation fund theft case and allegations being leveled against him. Speaking for the first time in the embezzlement case, Champat Rai said that many have leveled baseless allegations against him, but he maintained silence. Rai said he will provide a point-by-point response to the issues being raised, and the full truth will come to light. Rai had resigned from the post after the donation theft case in the Ram Mandir surfaced last month. His resignation was accepted by the trust in a high-level meeting, which took place on July 6, Monday.The former General Secretary of the Trust, in a message to Ram devotees, also
said that he was sent to Ayodhya by the organisation in October 1991, and his life as a 'Pracharak' (convener) spanning over 45 years has been an open book.Mentioning that in "times of calamity -- Patience, righteousness, friends, and women -- these are the four tested true, Champat Rai's detailed statement on the Ram Temple donation theft case reads, "Since June 7, 2026, there has been much speculation regarding the theft that occurred during the counting of donations from the donation box at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple complex. Many have leveled baseless allegations against me personally, yet I have maintained silence."
"The preliminary report of the SIT was presented at the Temple Trust's meeting on July 7, this report has now been made public. It was previously classified as 'strictly confidential.' I assure you all that following the SIT's final report, I will provide a point-by-point response to the issues being raised, and the full truth will come to light," he added.Rai further added, "I was sent to Ayodhya by the organization in October 1991, my life as a 'Pracharak' spans 45 years, and wherever I have lived, my life has been like an open book. Ram Temple Donation Theft Investigation
As probe in the donation fund advances, a local court in Ayodhya granted a one-day police remand for three of the eight accused arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations from the Ram temple, police sources said.The court authorised the remand for Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, and Karunesh Pandey, the sources added.All the eight accused were sent to 14-day judicial custody earlier on June 29.According to the prosecution, custodial interrogation of the three individuals was necessary to confront them with new evidence gathered from the questioning of the five other accused who were in jail on July 5.

The Ram Temple Trust Meeting
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, after Monday meeting, said that former General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra are no longer members of the trust, putting to rest any speculation regarding their status.The Trust is likely to decide at its next meeting on July 22 whether to make Krishna Mohan, a retired Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer, the permanent replacement for Champat Rai. As of now, Mohan has been entrusted upon the responsibility to oversee temple's operations.
