Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, on Friday said that he is excited as Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, took off from Sweden for a crucial visit to India. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Sergio Gor a while ago posted, "Just got a call from @SecRubio — he’s taking off for India right now! Excited for this important trip!" Rubio is visiting India for four days -- May 23 - May 26 -- during which he will visit Kolkata, Jaipur, Agra, and New Delhi. He will hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and participate in the Quad foreign ministers' meeting, along with Japanese and Australian partners.
On Thursday, ahead of Rubio's visit, Sergio Gor said, "... Investment flows are reaching new heights. Indian companies continue to expand in the United States, particularly in pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and technology, while US firms are increasing their footprint in India’s fast‑growing market. I was thrilled to see Indian companies committing more than $20 billion in investments in the United States at the annual Select Investment Summit. Not only is $20 billion a significant figure, but all embassies compete to bring investment into the US — and we were proud that our embassy, working with partners in India, ranked first in the world, an incredible achievement."
