New Delhi: India has withdrawn its bid to host the United Nations annual climate conference of the Parties (COP33) in 2028. The development was confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs. As per news agency, Reuters, India withdrew its bid to host the event earlier this month.Speaking at a press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India took into account several issues before taking the decision. Jaiswal further reiterated India's stance regarding fulfilling its climate change commitments. "Yes, India has withdrawn. There are several issues that were taken into account, but India remains fully committed to meeting its climate change commitments," the MEA spokesperson said.
