Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the state's new assembly building in Nava Raipur on Saturday, November 1. It is after 25 years of its formation that Chhattisgarh is finally getting its permanent
building. The PM will also unveil the statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 324 crore over 51 acres, this building is a symbol of Chhattisgarh's culture, tradition, and progressive thinking. There is a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering that makes this building unique.At the roof of the house, carvings of paddy ears and leaves are shown reflecting the identity of Chhattisgarh, known as the “rice bowl.” Most of the doors and furniture in the building have been crafted by artisans from Bastar, showcasing the dignity of local art.
The building is divided into three wings - Wing A houses the Assembly Secretariat, Wing B includes the House, Central Hall, offices of the Chief Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly, while Wing-C contains the ministers' offices. It also features a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity of 500 spectators and a 100-seat Central Hall.Officials say that the building is energy-efficient and based on green construction techniques. Making it a green building , the complex includes a solar power plant and two ponds for rainwater conservation.The walls and corridors of the assembly complex are adorned with traditional art from Bastar and Surguja. With Chhattisgarh getting a new assembly, as part of marking of 25 years of the formation of state of Chhattisgarh, PM will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a series of developmental projects worth over Rs 14,260 crore across key sectors such as roads, industry, healthcare and energy. Another important inauguration on the cards is of the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum.
