He was followed by Suman Kumar Mahaseth of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), who received 64,518 votes (34.37%). Arvind Kumar Purbey from the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) came in third, garnering 15,818 votes (8.43%).In the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election for the Madhubani constituency, RJD candidate Samir Kumar Mahaseth won the seat with 76,823 votes, securing 45.27% of the total vote share.
