Minister Narendra Modi turned "filmmaker" at a rally in Siliguri, West Bengal, on Sunday. The PM could be seen recording the enthusiastic crowd as they cheered him on. Watch the video below:
At the rally, PM Modi hit out at Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, alleging that the "tukde-tukde" gang had threatened to snap the strategic Siliguri Corridor to cut off the Northeast from the rest of the country, and that the TMC had given them support from "the streets to Parliament" to serve its "appeasement politics".Addressing the rally at the Kawakhali ground, PM Modi described the TMC as an "anti-tribal, anti-women and anti-youth party". Its appeasement politics have caused untold misery to the state, PM Modi alleged. The Siliguri rally is being viewed as part of the BJP's broader outreach in West Bengal, where the party is seeking to strengthen its organisational base and voter connect. The event comes amid intensified political activity in the state, with both ruling and opposition parties stepping up public campaigns. PM Modi's visit is expected to further energise party workers as the political temperature in the region continues to rise.West Bengal goes to polls in two phases - April 23 and 29. The counting of votes and declaration of results will be held on May 4. The elections will cover all 294 Assembly seats in the state, as the current Assembly term ends in May 2026.(With inputs from PTI)
