Bhubaneswar: A shocking and serious incident has come to light from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district after a suspicious secret camera-like device was allegedly found inside the women’s washroom of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) office. The incident has sparked panic, fear, and outrage among employees, while police have intensified their investigation.According to reports, the incident surfaced on Thursday morning when Madhusmita Samantaray, an employee of the finance department at the DRDA office, entered the women’s washroom. During her visit, she noticed a suspicious device lying on the floor, which reportedly appeared to have fallen down. On closer inspection, she suspected it could be a hidden camera and immediately informed
senior officials.Given the seriousness of the matter, police were called to the spot without delay. A team reached the office, seized the suspicious device, and initiated an investigation. An FIR has also been registered in connection with the incident.
As part of the probe, investigators are now examining CCTV footage from different parts of the office premises to identify any suspicious activity and possible suspects involved in the case.In addition, a digital forensic team has been roped into the investigation. The team is conducting a technical analysis of the seized device to determine whether it contained any recordings or if any data had been transferred to an external source. Tirtol SDPO Ajay Kumar Dash stated that a special investigation team has been formed to probe the incident thoroughly. He said the investigation is progressing rapidly and that the accused will be identified based on technical evidence and forensic findings.The officer further clarified that a suspicious device was initially found on the washroom floor, but it is still unclear who placed it there and for what purpose. Police officials expressed confidence that CCTV analysis and forensic reports will soon help identify those responsible. Meanwhile, the incident has raised serious concerns over workplace safety, women’s privacy, and security arrangements inside government offices.
