‘I’m Made in India Too’: Safran Boss’ Quip Makes PM Modi Laugh - WATCH

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a light moment with the Chairman of French Defence giant Safran as he said that he is also 'Made in India' during the inauguration of company's facility in Hyderabad.

Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday inaugurated French major Safran's Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for LEAP engines used in commercial aircraft in Hyderabad. During the event, Safran chairaman, Ross McInness, showcased the company's support for India's Make-in-India policy. Jokingly, McInness said, "I want to say that I am attached to this because I was born in India. So I'm 'Made in India' too." Hearing this, PM Modi started laughing.

Highlighting India's investment potential, PM Modi said the country is now a reform-oriented one that takes big decisions and has become a trusted partner for investors. He said that the unit will also help provide job opportunities for youngsters."India is now seen as a trusted partner, a major market, and a rising manufacturing hub. India today has rapid growth, a stable government, a reform-oriented mindset, a vast young talent pool, and a large domestic market. And most importantly, for those investing in India, the country considers them not merely as investors but as co-creators, stakeholders in the journey of Viksit Bharat (Developed India)," PM Modi said. The MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facility has been established for LEAP engines that power narrow-body A320 and B737 planes. The groundbreaking ceremony for the dedicated MRO facility for M88 engines that are used in Rafale fighter jets was also held on Wednesday. Both facilities will be in Hyderabad.The facilities are likely to be operational in 2026. They will be a major boost for the country's indigenous capabilities in the fast-growing aviation sector, a press release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) had said. Safran, which has been present in India for more than 70 years, provides engines and various critical components, including landing gear and electrical systems for Rafale fighter jets.
