Kota Building Collapse: Two people died on Saturday evening (February 7) after a three-storey building collapsed from top to bottom in Rajasthan’s Kota, media reports quoted the Kota Divisional Commissioner as saying. Several others were injured in the incident. Officials said 13 people rescued from the rubble were rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment. Relief and rescue operations are still underway to ensure that no one remains trapped."Two deaths have been reported. We have the information on 13 injured. Rajasthan Minister Madan Dilawar called it an “unfortunate incident” and said that he has spoken with the administration. "I have been told that there is one casualty. 5-7 people have been safely rescued. They have been taken to the hospital. Rescue and relief operations are underway," ANI quoted him as saying.Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed his shock over the building collapse in Kota and extended his support to the affected families. He added that he is closely monitoring the ongoing rescue and relief efforts. Birla held discussions with the District Collector and City SP, instructing them to speed up rescue operations and ensure that all injured individuals receive prompt and proper medical care.He stressed the importance of coordinated action among all agencies. Birla’s Officer on Special Duty, Rajiv Dutta, is on-site to monitor and supervise the ongoing efforts.Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams carefully clearing debris to search for survivors. Heavy machinery is being deployed, but officials emphasised that caution is being exercised to prevent further harm to those still trapped. The cause of the collapse is not yet known. Authorities said a thorough investigation will be conducted once the rescue work is complete. Residents have been urged to stay away from the area while emergency operations continue.
