At least 8 people have died after a passenger train (68733) and a goods train collided head-on near Lalkhadan in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur on Tuesday, causing several coaches to derail. According to railway
officials, two passengers were injured in the incident. Authorities said both have been provided with immediate medical attention, and all necessary rescue and relief operations are underway. Senior railway and local administration officials have reached the site to assess the situation and determine the cause of the collision.In the aftermath video, one train coach is seen atop another train with a portion crumpled from the impact.

MEMU train coach hit a goods train near Bilaspur station at about 16:00 hours. Two people have been injured in the incident. Railways have moved all the resources, and all measures are being ensured for the treatment of the injured, ani said quoting railway officials.

Speaking on the incident, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said, "The news of the train accident near Bilaspur is very sad. After receiving information from the Bilaspur District Collector, he has been given instructions regarding all possible assistance and relief work. The state government stands with the affected families during this difficult time."“Railway and administrative teams immediately launched relief and rescue operations. All necessary resources and medical assistance are being ensured for the treatment of the injured. The state government is monitoring the situation with utmost urgency and sensitivity,” the CM posted on X.Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao said, "A very tragic incident has occurred. The goods train was stationary, and a MEMU train collided with it from behind. The engine is in the front coach, and some passengers also sit there. That coach has been damaged. Senior railway officials and state government officers have reached the spot. Relief and rescue operations have begun. The injured are being taken to the hospital."
