RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya on Tuesday hit back at those accusing her of giving a “filthy kidney” to her father, challenging critics to debate her publicly and urging them to donate
their own kidneys to patients in need.Acharya, who lives in Singapore, has been vocal on social media since the RJD’s recent poll defeat. On Sunday, she alleged she had been “sworn at” and accused of taking “crores of rupees and a party ticket” in exchange for donating a kidney to her ailing father. She also claimed she had been “driven out” of her parents’ home by people close to her younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav. In a post on X on Tuesday, she said those showing “false sympathy” toward Lalu Prasad should instead help the thousands of patients awaiting organ transplants. “They should come forward for donating their kidneys… donate their kidneys in the name of Lalu ji,” she wrote.Acharya said those who question a daughter’s decision to donate an organ to her father “should muster the guts to have an open debate” with her. She added that those calling her kidney “filthy” should be the first to donate their own.Her remarks included sharp criticism directed at “Haryanvi” figures, a reference widely seen as aimed at Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of Tejashwi. She also targeted “sycophant journalists” and online trolls whom she accused of abusing her.“Those whose blood dries up at the mere mention of donating a bottle of blood give sermons on donating kidneys?” she wrote.Acharya also posted a video showing her shouting at a journalist over remarks she found objectionable, though her face was not visible. She has previously criticised another Tejashwi aide, Rameez, said to be the son-in-law of Samajwadi Party leader and former MP Rizwan Zaheer.Acharya donated a kidney to Lalu Prasad a few years ago. She contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Saran but lost. In earlier posts, she expressed regret that she had made the donation “without caring for the approval of my husband and my in-laws or for the well-being of my three children.”
