New Delhi: The Central BUreau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat in an extortion case. Last month, federal agency had also arrested an inspector of crime branch of the Delhi Police and his associate for allegedly trying to influence or help an individual who was named as an accused and is being probed by the CBI. The CBI investigation revealed that the arrested inspector of the Delhi Police was trying to influence CBI's ongoing investigation in an alleged Rs 5,000-crore fake medicinal drug scam which was earlier unearthed Puducherry said officials Times Now has accessed FIR and court documents which shows that the accused Delhi Police inspector arranged meetings of the CBI case accused in the fake drug case with
an unidentified public servant in Aero city. TheCBI probe revealed that the pubic servant was an IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat In past one month, the anti corruption probe agency has arrested, an IPS officer and three IAS officials in separate corruption cases. After arresting the inspector of the Delhi Police, the CBI called the IPS officer for questioning, said officials. The CBI investigations revealed that the inspector and IPS office had claimed before "CBI accused implicated in fake drug case" that they have access to influence probe. The CBI FIR has alleged that Delhi Police Crime Branch Inspector Pradeep Kumar Singh and private individual, Rajkumar (alias Madanraj) were arrested whole negotiating a multi-crore bribe to secure legal relief for N. Raja (alias Valliappan, alias Rajasekhar), the prime accused in the fake drug case. Raja is currently facing multiple investigations in CBI case. Documents accessed by Times Now shows Inspector Singh, Rajkumar, and several accomplices connived with each other to help Raja. Raja was reportedly assured that influential government and CBI officials could be leveraged to derail or dilute the ongoing probes. The probe revealed that a total bribe of Rs 3 crore was demanded, with an initial payment of Rs 1.5 crore.Raja started arranging funds and arranged for Rs 1 crore to be funneled into Delhi through illegal hawala channels. Earlier while seeking the custody of the inspector, CBI had informed the court that Inspector Singh received this bribe money, retained Rs 25 lakh for himself and passed Rs 50 lakh to an individual named Prabhat. Singh and Rajkumar were caught red-handed with the remaining RS 24.70 lakh in cash. The investigation also highlights a May 14 meeting in Aerocity, New Delhi, where Raja, Rajkumar, and others met with a senior government official. This senior official was later identified as IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat This official, later identified in court documents as a high-ranking official posted in Delhi, allegedly promised to ensure favorable action regarding the CBI probe.Earlier the CBI had collected handwriting samples, voices samples of the two accused arrested in the case
