President Vijay has been summoned again by the CBI in connection with the Karur stampede case on January 19, officials said. This will be the second round of questioning for the actor‑turned‑politician, who was called yesterday as a witness.Vijay was questioned for nearly seven hours at the CBI headquarters on Monday. Sources said that during the questioning, the actor‑turned‑politician maintained that neither TVK nor its functionaries were responsible for the tragic stampede in Karur last September, which led to the death of 41 persons and injuries to over 100 others. “It is the same stand that was earlier taken by party functionaries who were questioned,” sources said.

On the directions of the apex court, the anti‑corruption probe agency registered the case and initiated the investigation last October.
