Operation Arahama: Encounter Rages in Ganderbal, One Terrorist Neutralised — What We Know So Far

Srinagar: At least one terrorist was neutralised on Tuesday night by security forces during a cordon and search operation in the Arahama area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal. Operation Arahama was launched jointly by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police upon receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.The security forces noticed a suspicious movement during the search and cordon operation. The encounter broke after the terrorists opened fire on the troops. in Gen area Arahama of Ganderbal, the Chinar Corps said in an X post.“During the search, vigilant troops observed suspicious activity. On being challenged, terrorists opened fire and own troops retaliated,” it added. Operation Araahama is currently underway.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, IGP Kashmir also visited the encounter site. One to two terrorists are reportedly trapped in the area as the gunfight rages. Additional troops have been moblised for preventing the terrorists from escaping.In another update, the Chinar Corps confirmed that one terrorist was killed. “OP ARAHAMA : Update. During the night of 31 Mar 26, the cordon was tactically reorganised amidst the intermittent firing underway. Own troops effectively retaliated with calibrated response resulting in one terrorist eliminated,” Chinar Corps said.

About Operation Arahama:Operation Arahama was launched on Tuesday night jointly by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. In the Arhama area of Ganderbal district. One terrorist was killed by the security forces. Operation Arahma continued for the second consecutive day on Wednesday (April 1).According to reports, over 40 terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir in 2025.
