Times Now
New Delhi: Times Now has fact-checked Rahul Gandhi's latest claim on alleged vote-chori in the Haryana Assembly elections, where he alleged that several voter IDs had a common photo of a Brazilian model.Times
Now tracked down Joginder Kaushik and his wife Pinky, whose voter ID cards were allegedly featured in Rahul Gandhi’s Wednesday press conference. Both Joginder Kaushik and Pinky denied Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft and dismissed claims against the Election Commission. When Times Now reached Joginder, he said they had no knowledge of any Brazilian model—a reference to Rahul Gandhi’s claim that several voter IDs in Haryana featured her photo.Elaborating further, Joginder told Times Now that when they received Pinky’s voter ID around six years ago, the address was correct but the photo was of someone else.Upon noticing the discrepancy, they contacted the authorities, returned the ID card, and submitted an Aadhaar card along with a correct photo to rectify the issue. He further informed that they still haven’t received the corrected voter ID, so they cast their votes using Aadhaar and the voter slip issued during elections.Joginder also claimed that Pinky herself cast her vote and no one else did it on her behalf, firmly dismissing any claims of vote-chori by Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking on the matter, Pinky said, “We took our Aadhaar card and voter slip to cast our votes. There is no vote-chori, and nobody else cast my vote. I went myself to vote with my husband and mother-in-law. I voted in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections using the voter slip. Authorities told us we could vote via Aadhaar card.” She emphasised that the allegations of vote-chori and duplicate voters were false. Both Pinky and Joginder rejected Rahul Gandhi’s claims regarding vote-chori and duplication of voter IDs during the elections. They clearly stated that they voted only after being allowed to do so, and while there was an issue with the photo on the card, they do not recall whose picture it was.In another fact-check, Times Now tracked down the family of one Guniya in Haryana’s Murthal area.Interestingly, Guniya had died four years ago. Her husband and mother-in-law, while speaking on camera, said that they received a voter slip in Guniya’s name, but nobody went to cast her vote. They both said they didn’t check the picture on the voter slip as Guniya was no more.
How Relatives of Haryana Voter Anju Rejected Rahul Gandhi's Vote-Chori Claim
In yet another case, Times Now reached Akbarpur Barota in Haryana's Sonipat, where a voter, Anju—whose name featured in Rahul Gandhi’s press conference—resides.Anju’s sister Rekha debunked Rahul Gandhi’s claims, saying Anju is a genuine voter who voted in 2022 but not in 2024 because her husband had died.According to her sister, Anju now lives in Delhi but has a voter ID registered at this (Haryana) address. A person named Pankaj, another relative of Anju, said that her son voted in the 2024 elections and both are genuine voters, yet again dismissing any claims of vote-chori.
