'Ties Have Never Been Stronger': US, India Sign Big 10-Year Defence Framework in Malaysia

United States and India signed a 10-year Defence Framework with India on Friday. The agreement was signed during a meeting between India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in Malaysia. Hegseth announced the signing of the defence framework, saying that the two countries' "defence ties have never been stronger."

"I just met with Rajnath Singh to sign a 10-year U.S.-India Defense Framework. This advances our defence partnership, a cornerstone for regional stability and deterrence. We're enhancing our coordination, info sharing, and tech cooperation. Our defence ties have never been stronger," Hegseth posted on X.Following the signing, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "India-US relations will further strengthen." "We have held telephonic conversations thrice. I am delighted to be meeting you in person on the sidelines of ADMM (ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting - Plus: ADMM-Plus). On this occasion, I feel a new chapter will begin today with the signing of the Defence Framework...I am confident that under your leadership, India-US relations will further strengthen..." Rajnath Singh said. "I want to express gratitude to Minister Singh for the partnership we have with India. It's one of those consequential US-India relationships in the world. Our strategic alignment is built on shared interests, on mutual trust and commitment to a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific Region...This 10-year U.S.-India Defence Framework is ambitious," Hegseth said, as quoted by ANI. "It's a significant step for our two militaries, a roadmap for deeper and even more meaningful collaboration ahead. It underscores America's long-term commitment for our shared security and our strong partnership..." he added.
