With the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections nearing, airfares from Delhi to Kolkata have surged sharply. Many Kolkata residents living in Delhi are booking
tickets to return home and vote in the pollingscheduled for April 23 and 29. The spike in demand has led to a noticeable increase in ticket prices, making last-minute travel significantly more expensive for passengers. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is conducting the polls in two major phases for the 294-member assembly, on April 23 and April 29, with results scheduled on May 4, 2026.
Delhi-Kolkata Flight Price For Today
With the increased demand, the ticket prices have surged massively for today (Wednesday, April 22), with fares touching up to Rs 32,000 for a non-stop flight. While some other flight prices hiked to Rs 36,000. Below the flight prices, it is highlighted that "prices are currently high".
Delhi-Kolkata Flight Price For Tomorrow
For tomorrow (Thursday, April 23), which is the day of the election, the flights are priced somewhere between Rs 13,000 to Rs 24000, while some non-stop flights are priced at Rs 32,000.
Delhi-Kolkata Flight Price For Next Week
As the Phase-2 elections are scheduled for April 29, the airfare for April 28 is around Rs 15,000, while a few flights are also priced at Rs 13,000. Generally, the flight ticket cost ranges from Rs 5000-7000. It has notably increased due to the upcoming elections in West Bengal.
West Bengal Elections 2026
The Phase 1 constituency list for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections has been released, with voting scheduled for April 23. This phase includes several key regions such as Siliguri, Darjeeling, and Jalpaiguri. The main contest is between the BJP and TMC, making it a high-stakes battle. With over 150 seats in play, the opening phase is expected to significantly influence the overall election outcome.
The Election Commission has announced 100% webcasting for all polling booths in Phase 1 to ensure transparency. Over 44,000 booths will be under constant CCTV surveillance, and central forces have been deployed across sensitive zones to maintain law and order.
Polling Timings For West Bengal Elections
Voting at all designated polling stations across West Bengal will take place during the following hours:
Start Time: 7:00 AM
End Time: 6:00 PM
Important Rule: If you are already standing in the queue by 6:00 PM, you will be allowed to cast your vote even if the process takes longer.
Moreover, the ECI has imposed strict restrictions on two-wheelers, including a ban on bike rallies, restricting night-time movement and limiting pillion riding across West Bengal, aiming to ensure peaceful and intimidation-free voting ahead of the Assembly elections.
