Opinion Polls vs Exit Polls: What’s the Difference?
- Election surveys fall into two categories — opinion polls and exit polls.
- Opinion polls are conducted before voting begins to gauge voter sentiment.
- Exit polls are carried out after voters cast their ballots and exit polling stations.
While exit polls provide an early indication of likely results, variations in sample size, demographics, and regional representation often make actual outcomes differ significantly from projections.
Bihar Election 2025: Key Contenders
The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 is primarily a battle between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan (INDIA bloc).
The outgoing assembly had 131 NDA seats, distributed among BJP (80), JD(U) (45), and HAM(S) (4), with support from two independents. Adding a new twist this year is Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, which has turned the contest into a three-cornered race.
