Simon Cowell couldn’t have been more excited ahead of his Dodo Dream Date with a charming rescue pittie named Cider.
The pair met at the studio where Simon was preparing to tape the latest episode of "America’s Got Talent" — but in Simon’s eyes, Cider was the real star.
“Oh my gosh, you are beautiful,” Simon told the pup, who immediately hopped into his lap.
Simon then learned that 2-year-old Cider has been looking for a forever home. Despite months of training and 165 days waiting for a family, Cider still hadn’t received a single adoption application.
Cider’s date, however, was instantly smitten as they began to tour the set.
“She’s my dream date, literally,” Simon said. “She’s such a sweetheart.”
Simon and Cider then made a quick stop at his trailer,
where Simon showered her with even more belly rubs.
“Every pit bull I’ve ever met [is] everything you want with a dog,” Simon said. “They’re loyal, they’re friendly.”
Cider was in heaven.
Soon, Simon and Cider were joined by fellow AGT stars Howie Mandel and Terry Crews (the latter of whom previously went on a Dodo Dream Date of his own).
They soon fell in love with Cider, too.
“These dogs deserve a home, they’re beautiful,” Terry said.
Simon, a renowned dog-lover, went on to mention his pack of beloved dogs back home — named Squiddly, Diddly, Daisy and Pebbles. Though some people might be hesitant to share life with so many pups, for Simon, the more the merrier.
“Once you start with two, having three, having four doesn’t really make much of a difference,” he said.
Not to be left out, fellow AGT co-judge Mel B also stopped by to meet Cider.
“She’s very sweet,” Mel B said.
Before long, Simon and Cider’s Dream Date drew to an end, but not before Simon had one last surprise for the sweet pup. He brought a basket full of toys for Cider to take with her when she finally finds the forever home she deserves.
“If you’re gonna have a date, you’ve always got to bring a present,” Simon said.
Cider really was the star that day, and as a judge on AGT, Simon certainly would agree.
