As soon as Kristen Bell’s Dodo Dream Date, Elmo, walked into the room, the pair made an instant connection. The 10-month-old pup walked right over to Kristen, jumped into her lap and made himself comfortable. He was so excited to be there, and his date
felt exactly the same way.
Elmo was pulled from Kern County Shelter by Wags and Walks and is now looking for his next chapter. Kristen fell in love with him immediately and was eager to get to know him and hopefully help him find his forever home.
The pair started their date by playing a game of mystery jars. Each jar held a question for Kristen and a surprise for Elmo. As Kristen pulled toys and treats out of the jars, she also talked about her show “Nobody Wants This” and its upcoming return for season three.
Kristen did her best to answer the questions while Elmo continued to distract her with cuddles and love, and she kept marveling at how on earth the sweet pup was still single.
“My first impressions of Elmo are that he is immediately very openhearted,” Kristen told The Dodo.
Kristen chatted about her past roles and which characters would make the best and worst pet sitters. She herself has fostered and adopted out countless dogs and puppies over the years, and has her own pack of rescue pups at home.
“I took the ones nobody wanted,” Kristen said. “One of my dogs has three legs and is terrified of absolutely everything.”
Kristen continued chatting and answering questions, even though she confessed she’d be perfectly content sitting quietly and holding Elmo for the rest of the day. Kristen is a huge advocate for rescue and adoption and wishes more people understood just how wonderful pups like Elmo can be.
As the date wrapped up, Kristen presented Elmo with a gift basket to take with him to his future forever home. Not long after their date, Elmo was adopted and is now living it up with his new family.
