Recently, a shopper in Brisbane, Australia, was walking through a parking lot when they noticed a taped-up banana box lying on the concrete.
The curious Good Samaritan looked inside and realized the truth. This box wasn’t full of bananas — it was brimming
with cats: a mother and five tiny kittens.
The shopper grabbed the box and brought the cats to a local veterinary center, where a manager contacted Nikki of Best Friends Felines. Nikki quickly got in touch with Jen, a fellow rescuer, who agreed to take the cats into care.
Today, the whole family is still safe with Jen, regaining their strength.
So far, the mother cat, Gloria, has been the most anxious, though she’s slowly coming out of her shell.
“She is rather shut down, but is receptive to being fed — especially treats — and allowing some gentle pats,” Jen told The Dodo.
Meanwhile, the kittens, Jivadi, Perlah, Robbie, Santos and Huckleberry, are keeping their foster mom on her toes with their playful antics.
“The kittens have wonderful personalities,” Best Friends Felines wrote in a Facebook post. “Jivadi is a sweet kitten and the biggest purrer. Robbie and Huckleberry are typical gingers and love to be chaotic. Santos and Perlah are the quieter two, happy to play and snuggle.”
Soon, the cats will be vaccinated and begin looking for their permanent families.
Until then, they’re safe with Jen, far from the parking lot, enjoying a life of love.
