It started as a routine call for firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 9 in Washington State. A smoldering tree stump on a homeowner’s wooded property needed water from the firefighters' hose to put it out.
But that’s not all the hose would be
good for.
After the fire crew arrived and began to douse the hotspot, the homeowner’s dog appeared on the scene. His interest was less in the work they were doing and more in the playful opportunity their hose presented.
As many water-loving dogs tend to do, the pup proceeded to frolic in and chomp on the spray.
Fortunately, perhaps anticipating the dog’s antics, the firefighter manning the hose appears to have lowered the pressure.
The dog was having the time of his life — and the firefighter seemed happy to oblige him.
In the end, the dog was left a bit muddy and wet, but quite clearly pleased to have been in on the action.
As for his water-loving ways?
“This is probably why we don’t have a station dog,” Spokane County Fire District 9 wrote. “[B]ut honestly, now we want one even more.”
