The other day, Mauro Tutzo noticed a couple moving into the apartment next door to his. Mauro was looking forward to having some company on the other side of his shared balcony, as he usually spends his days working from home alone. But before he could
introduce himself to his new neighbors, one of them stopped by unexpectedly.
“Today I found out they also have a dog,” Mauro said in a TikTok video. “Want to know how I found out? He climbed over onto my balcony.”
Mauro wasn’t expecting to find a black-and-tan dog standing in front of his balcony door, staring intently inside that afternoon. He had never seen the dog before and hadn’t yet met the rest of the family.
The pup, it turned out, had hit the jackpot.
“Luckily, he came to the right place, because I sell pet supplies,” Mauro said.
He invited the dog inside to explore the collection of enrichment toys he keeps in his home office for work.

Mauro emptied a squeezable treat into an enrichment toy, then placed it on the ground next to the dog, who wasted no time lapping it up. After finishing his treat, the pup stayed at Mauro’s for a few more hours, playing and napping without a care in the world.
The dog’s parents returned later that afternoon, and Mauro promptly introduced himself while the pup sauntered back home. That’s when he learned that the dog, named Never, had access to the balcony during the day while his parents worked — and he didn’t particularly like being alone.
“Honestly, he's the neediest dog ever,” Mauro said in a TikTok video. “He wants attention all the time, and if you stop petting him, he gets annoyed.”
But Mauro wasn’t bothered by Never’s neediness. In fact, he welcomed it and was elated when the dog returned the next day.
“I woke up around noon, and he was already standing at the sliding glass door waiting for me,” Mauro said in a TikTok video.
That day, Mauro decided to try using a steam brush on Never. It wasn’t technically a toy, but Mauro had a feeling the affectionate boy might enjoy being brushed.
“He's basically getting a little spa day with the steam,” Mauro said. “Oh, wow ... he likes it. Alright, alright ... I'll keep going.”

Just as Mauro expected, Never enjoyed every second of his steam brush experience, then rested on the floor for a few hours once it was done. The sweet pup eventually hopped back over the balcony divider to his apartment once his parents returned from work, excited to visit Mauro again the following day.
And, sure enough, when Mauro woke up the next morning, he found Never standing in front of the balcony door again. The pup’s tail fluttered as soon as Mauro noticed him.
Mauro let Never inside, then prepared another new toy for him.
“I brought this toy that's kind of like a toothbrush,” Mauro said on TikTok. “When he chews on it, it brushes his teeth and helps remove tartar buildup.”

Never’s random afternoon visits soon became a daily routine that both he and Mauro looked forward to. Mauro loved spending time with the happy pup, and Never couldn’t get enough of the toys Mauro had to offer. The two hit it off instantly — so much so that Mauro now misses Never whenever he’s away.
“I hadn't seen him for about two days …” Mauro said. “It was so sad. Two days of absolute depression. The building felt empty.”
Thankfully, Never’s family returned from their trip just a few days later. And the two best friends fell right back into their usual routine.
It’s been a couple of weeks since Mauro befriended Never, and while he doesn't like saying goodbye at the end of the day, he loves knowing the friendly pup gets to go home to a family that adores him.
“As soon as the dog hears his owner, he immediately heads back to his own balcony,” Mauro said. “You can tell how well-behaved, loving, and well cared for the dog is.”
