If you’ve been searching for a dog to join your family, you’ve probably visited adoption events and scrolled through shelter social feeds trying to get to know the available pups. Now The Dodo and Wags & Walks are teaming up to offer a new way to meet
your next best friend: live on TikTok.
To celebrate International Dog Day, The Dodo producer Monica Matute will join Sofia Ranalli at Wags & Walks’ Los Angeles headquarters to introduce viewers to some of the rescue’s most eligible pups. Because it’s happening live, you’ll get to watch the dogs’ personalities blossom as they meet new people, play with toys, enjoy treats and soak up plenty of pets. You can also ask questions and get answers in real time. To join the stream, follow The Dodo on TikTok and tune in Wednesday, August 26, at 5 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. EST.
So who are the dogs you’re going to meet on Wednesday? While you’ll have to join live to meet the surprise guests, here’s a preview of a few available pups with major star potential:
CAMPER
There’s a common misconception that you can’t find “purebred” dogs in shelters, but Camper is living proof that you can. The 2-year-old Saint Bernard was recently rescued by Wags & Walks from a crowded shelter, and now he’s ready to soak up all the love his future adopter has to give.
Camper looks like he stepped straight out of the movie "Beethoven" — and he’s every bit as charming. He's a huge fan of people, belly scratches and making new friends. Camper is currently completing a training program at Whittier Dog Club, where he’s working on his manners. But one thing’s clear: This big, wiggly boy’s joyful energy is contagious, whether you meet him in person or through a screen.
COSMO & MIRACLE
Cosmo and Miracle are sweet seniors who found themselves at Wags & Walks when their elderly owner moved to an assisted living facility. These poodle mixes, who are 10 and 14 years young, are the best of friends and love to do everything together. They're looking for a laid-back home where they can spend their days taking walks and sniffing everything they can, then heading home for a nice long nap. "They are affectionate, friendly pups who enjoy being close to their people, but are happy to spend time on their own while their people are occupied," Wags & Walks writes. "These pups will thrive with compassionate, caring adopters who will give them the golden years they deserve."
JAM
This beautiful girl has earned a reputation as “the world’s nicest dog” — and a professional cuddlebug. Jam was found as a pregnant stray and rescued from an overcrowded shelter just before giving birth to eight puppies. Now that all her babies have found homes, it’s finally this devoted mama’s turn to be loved and cared for.
Jam is always up for some playtime or a good run, but she’s just as happy curling up on the couch beside her person. Gentle, affectionate and endlessly friendly, this sweet pittie loves meeting new people and kids. And she can't wait to show off on camera!
To get preapproved to adopt a dog through Wags & Walks, you can fill out this adoption application. All applicants must be 21 years or older to adopt. Once the team reviews your application, they’ll email you about next steps and, if it seems like a good fit, schedule a meet and greet.
