When Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman agreed to go on a Dodo Dream Date, they decided to make it a little spooky in honor of their new movie “Practical Magic 2.” They wore black and brought witch hats
— but their hearts melted the moment they met their dates.
Pawla is a black 4-month-old kitten and part of a bonded pair, and Tagliatelle is a 3-month-old puppy. They were thrilled to meet Sandra and Nicole, who fell in love within seconds.
“Black animals have a much harder time being adopted from the shelters,” Sandra said in a video for The Dodo. “Primarily because of suspicion that shouldn’t exist. I have two black cats. We call them our house panthers.”
The group soon decided to play a mystery hat game. They lifted up witch hats to reveal surprises underneath, which could be treats, toys or conversation starters. To keep with the spooky theme, Sandra talked about the three times she saw a ghost, and sweet Tagliatelle seemed to get a little scared.
“How was that story? Was that too much?” Sandra said.
After the ghost story, Nicole and Sandra chatted about their own rescue pets and gave their dates some toys and treats. Sandra admitted that she was the most likely of the two to cancel plans to hang out with her pets at home.
As the actresses cuddled with their dates, they chatted about their own friendship and everything they’ve learned from each other.
“We gave each other a lot of grace to navigate a journey of telling a story,” Sandra said.
Throughout the date, Sandra and Nicole bonded with Pawla and Tagliatelle, and asked if whoever ends up adopting them can send updates so they can see how the pets are doing in their new lives.
“We want yearly update photos,” Sandra said. “First day of school, you know, milestones.”
As the actresses said goodbye to their new furry friends, they wished them well and hoped they would both be adopted by the most wonderful families.
“We will be checking in because we are now, unfortunately, a wee bit bonded,” Sandra said.
