Up until last week, things weren’t looking good for this adorable little pittie named Ryder. He’d been languishing in an under-resourced shelter in Oklahoma — and his time was running out.
“Space was extremely limited,” Maria Nevarez-Lott, director of
marketing for Anderson Humane in South Elgin, Illinois, told The Dodo. “He and other animals were facing euthanasia. We don't know whether he was a stray or surrendered, but we were able to pull him from the urgent list just in time.”
The happy and healthy 3-month-old pup got the second chance he needed. And he isn't shy about showing how much he's enjoying it.
While life at Anderson Humane’s boarding facility isn’t nearly as ideal as having a home to call his own, Ryder quickly learned that being a resident there comes with some nice perks.
To keep their animals feeling loved and appreciated, volunteers at the shelter dote upon them with plenty of pets and scritches each day.
And when it comes to Ryder’s turn, his face of pure bliss says it all:
“Isn’t he the cutest?” Nevarez-Lott said. “[Ryder] is doing great now and is ready for a loving home. Potential adopters are welcome to drop in or schedule an appointment to meet him.”
With any luck, it won't be long before Ryder finds a forever family with whom to share many years of life ahead — and plenty more scritches.
