A homeowner in Modesto, California, was shocked after finding a pug living under their porch. The mama pug had recently given birth to two tiny puppies — who looked absolutely nothing like her.
“When I saw the picture, the first thing I said was, ‘Omg,
she has 2 little cows,’” a representative from Oakdale Tiny Paws Rescue told The Dodo.
Oakdale Tiny Paws Rescue immediately agreed to take in the pug mama and her babies and started making the arrangements. The homeowner loaded the little family into their car and drove them to safety.
Luckily, the pug and her puppies were in good health besides being overheated. She’d done a wonderful job of keeping her babies safe until help finally arrived.
As the family got settled into their foster home, their rescuers named the mom Millie and her puppies Tillie and Bessie. They couldn’t get over how different the puppies looked compared to their mom, and how well she doted on her two unique babies.
“Millie is a good mama [and] has been feeding them without pause,” the representative said. “They are chunky, healthy little girls.”
It’s impossible to know why the puppies look like little cows without doing a DNA test, and the rescue put one on their Amazon wishlist, hoping that they can eventually find out.
Until then, the unique family is being well cared for, and their rescuers can’t wait to see what the puppies look like as time goes on.
“We will continue to share pics [and] pupdates as our moo moo's grow [and] thrive,” the representative said.
