Singer, songwriter and social media star Bella Poarch couldn’t have been more excited to meet her Dodo Dream Date — a bouncy, playful rescue pup named Spritz.
Spritz was thrilled to meet her, too.
Bella had come prepared with a set of "mystery jars" containing
treats, toys and cards with get-to-know-you questions for her and her date.
Spritz, a rescue pup from Muddy Paws Rescue NYC
, was eager to get started.“Let’s see if we’re a good match,” Bella said, opening the first jar to find a snack for Spritz.
When asked for a secret her own pets might reveal about her, Bella admitted to being a very chatty cat mom.
“I have three cats. Their names are PeePee, WeeWee and DooDoo,” Bella said. “I talk a lot at home when I’m just chilling with my pets. It’s because I feel like they honestly understand me more than people. I’m naturally introverted with people. But with animals, I feel like I’m not as introverted.”
Between treats and playtime, Bella also opened up about the experiences behind her song “Bighead,” from her debut album "Picnic at the Cemetery," released on September 18.
“I had imaginary friends growing up,” Bella said. “'Bighead' is just about how I grew up with imaginary friends, and how they kept me safe from a home that was not a good home for me. It was very healing writing that song.”
As for the one song on the album that best matches her furry date’s personality?
“I think the best song [for Spritz], ‘Chase Me,’” Bella said. “It’s this really, really fun song that is about being chased. And I feel like that is her. That is so Spritz. It’s a hyper song, and she’s very energetic, so I feel like she would definitely listen to that song, too.”
Even as their date drew to an end, Spritz remained as happy as ever, especially when Bella brought out a gift basket for her to take along when she joined her forever family.
And not long after their date, Spritz was adopted. Bella knows her new family is lucky to have her.
“[Spritz] is very energetic, and I love that about her,” Bella said. “And she’s very playful and very easy to get along with.”
