Last year, at a park in Texas, a little dog named Furby was found all alone. He’d been abandoned there along with his few possessions: a pet bed and a water bowl.
Yet, Furby never budged from the spot. Instead, his eyes scanned around, as if expecting
whoever had left him there would soon be returning.
But they never did.
Bri (bristexastails), a local animal rescuer, knows that spot all too well. It’s a popular dumping ground for unwanted pets. She found Furby scared, with the saddest eyes, and decided to give him hope.
Bri earned Furby’s trust and brought him to safety. With the help of Pippy's Pals Rescue, she began fostering him and setting him on a happier path.
“His face even brightened,” Bri told The Dodo. “I knew I had to foster him the second I saw him.”
In time, Furby’s face only grew brighter under Bri’s dedicated care. He blossomed into a whole new dog, his sad past just a distant memory.
“We will never know why his owner decided to dump him, but he’s safe now and is going to live a great life from here on out,” Bri wrote.
Then came the day everyone who knew him had been waiting for.
Furby was adopted into a loving forever home.
More than a year after his rescue, Furby — who now goes by Georgie — is thriving with his adoptive family.
“Since coming home with us, he has brought so much love, laughter and happiness into our lives,” Georgie’s family told The Dodo. “He has the sweetest little personality and is equal parts affectionate, playful and full of character. It’s hard to imagine that this sweet boy was once abandoned at a park because he has become such an important part of our family.”
For Bri, who first met Georgie at his saddest point, his transformation has been nothing short of incredible.
"I love seeing Georgie feel safe and loved. You can see such a difference in his face compared to the day we found him," Bri told The Dodo. "Georgie is such a beautiful reminder of how much can change when someone is willing to give you that chance. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to completely change the direction of a life."
