This is Dino — a little dog who loves nothing more than spending quality time at home with his mom, Yaneth Ibrahim. But there’s just one catch.
Ibrahim isn’t home 24/7. And that’s been difficult for Dino to cope with.
Like many dogs, Dino suffers from separation
anxiety when his mom is away at work. When left alone, the restless little dog would pace and whimper, looking out the window and listening for the sound of her arriving home.
But then Ibrahim decided to try something she’d seen online to help anxious pups like Dino. She bought him a human-sized doll to keep him company while she’s out.
And sure enough, it’s worked. But perhaps a little too well.
While Ibrahim is away, Dino has been curling up in the lap of his new lifelike companion, his anxiety clearly eased. However, while Dino used to flip out when his mom arrived back, his allegiances seem to have shifted.
“I couldn’t believe that even when I got back home, he would still love to be on top of his doll,” Ibrahim told The Dodo. “He loves that doll so much.”
Ibrahim shared a video explaining the technique, during which Dino continues to favor the doll’s lap over hers.
Dino, it seems, has made his choice. But Ibrahim doesn’t mind that her pup seems to have bonded with the doll so strongly.
“It feels great that he’s finally calm at home alone,” Ibrahim said. “I love that he’s comfortable being without me!”
Fortunately for Dino, his favorite lap is always home.
