Tommy has been in the care of STAB Rescue in North Carolina for over a year now, waiting for his forever family to find him. He was adopted and abandoned more than once, and likely suffered mistreatment along the way. He’s not a big fan of men and definitely
needs to find a female-centric home.
Tommy was in a boarding facility for a while after arriving at the rescue and was struggling in that environment. The rescue put out a plea looking for fosters, and two women stepped up. The 5-year-old pup has been thriving in his foster home, but he still needs to find his forever.
Since he’s been doing so well in his foster home, Tommy’s friends at the rescue have come to a conclusion: He really needs to be adopted by lesbians.
“After careful consideration, absolutely zero scientific research, and Tommy making his preferences everybody else’s problem, we have determined that this man needs LESBIANS,” STAB Rescue wrote on Facebook.
Men are too much for Tommy to handle. He wants a home with only women who will spoil him rotten, and he’s hoping he won’t have to wait too much longer for that dream to come true.
“He’s looking for two moms who will call him ‘our son,’ buy him an unnecessary amount of enrichment toys, have at least 14 throw blankets on the couch and discuss his emotional needs over an oat milk latte,” the rescue wrote.
The Facebook posts about Tommy’s search for lesbians got a lot of attention — some negative. A few commenters were offended that Tommy doesn’t want to be adopted by men, but his rescue friends remain committed to making sure the pup gets exactly what he needs. They put out a response pretending to be Tommy, and it was nothing short of hilarious.
“For the most part, people think the posts are funny and they seem to resonate with it, but of course, there are always people that are going to have a problem with posts like that,” Alexis Ketover, assistant director of STAB rescue, told The Dodo.
So far Tommy has gotten a few applications, and the rescue is actively reviewing every one that comes in. He has some requirements for his future family, including no men, a house and not an apartment, a fenced-in yard, and another dog to keep him company.
Tommy may be a little bit particular, but he deserves to have all of his needs met. His perfect family is out there somewhere, and just maybe they actually are lesbians.
