Last week, Sloan Hutchinson was drawing a bath at home when she suddenly realized she didn’t have complete privacy. The room, it turns out, was already occupied by a little animal.
“I was about to get into the bathtub, and I saw a hand going in and out of
the tub drain,” Sloan told The Dodo.
So she called her dad, Zach, for help.
At first, Zach thought his daughter might be pranking him. But then he saw it for himself — five tiny fingers protruding from the chrome drain cover.
And with that, he grabbed his screwdriver.
Zach quickly discovered the hand belonged to a little tree frog, who had somehow made his way into the tub’s plumbing.
But after loosening the bathtub overflow cover, Zach was ultimately able to free him, returning the frog safely outside. Tree frogs like the one Zach freed are helpful neighbors, doing their part to keep pest populations in check by eating mosquitoes, flies and other insects. That, of course, is better done outdoors than in the Hutchinsons’ bathroom.
“We’re animal lovers,” Zach told The Dodo. “It felt so good to get him out of there. We’ve never had anything like that happen before.”
All had been set right — that is, except for Sloan’s peace of mind. Spotting a little hand when she was about to take a bath may take some time to get over.
“I told my dad I’m never going in that bathroom again,” Sloan said with a laugh.
