Thanks to the work of volunteers at City Dogs Cleveland, adoptable pups at the city-run shelter get plenty of love, attention and enrichment. But one dog named Bay recently took it into his own paws to get even more.
And it was no small feat.
The other
day, Bay was enjoying some fresh air in a private outdoor enclosure, adjacent to two other dogs, when he hatched an adorable plan. Rather than settle for greeting the neighboring pups through the chain-link fence, he decided to join them.
As security footage shows, Bay scaled the fence to come face to face with his shelter mate. Then he did it again.
“Bay embarked on a Great Escape from one of our outdoor areas to make some new friends,” City Dogs Cleveland wrote. “Fortunately, his neighbors Pumpkin and Flip Flop seemed happy enough to see a new buddy drop down from the sky. Now we know — Bay is an impressive climber!”
Not surprisingly, Bay’s adoption profile describes the 2-year-old pittie/terrier mix as smart, fun and engaging.
“Bay can be an active pup but has an easy-going disposition in that he's up for all sorts of things if he can do it at your side,” the shelter wrote. “Whether it's sniffing and exploring on walks, or romping around with a toy in the yard, Bay is game.”
Bay's climbing skills are impressive — but they'll be something his future family will need to keep in mind. A home with a privacy fence and plenty of opportunities to exercise would likely be best suited for him.
“He makes an eager sidekick for playtime and adventures,” the shelter wrote. “All he craves is your love and attention!”
