Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein arrived at their Dodo Dream Date carrying plush chew-toy roses for Regina — an adoptable dog, who had no idea she was about to charm everyone in the room.
“We’re so excited,” Jennifer said.
As soon as Regina entered the
room and joined them on the couch, smiles lit up everyone’s faces. The 3-year-old dog, rescued by Wags and Walks in Los Angeles, was eager to meet them. She’d been in search of a forever home for the past three weeks, which came as a surprise to Jennifer.
“Anybody would be so lucky to have you,” she told Regina.
Jennifer and Brett came prepared to the Dream Date with an array of colorful “mystery jars” filled with toys, treats and get-to-know-you questions.
Regina enjoyed the treats most of all.
Next, Jennifer and Brett, who star in the new film “Office Romance,” talked about the upsides and downsides of dating someone you work with in real life, while Regina basked in attention beside them.
“The upside is you get to see each other and work with each other every day, which can be nice if you get along,” Jennifer said. “The biggest risk is that you have to see each other every day and work together.”
Regina listened intently as Brett went on to discuss what inspired him to write the film, along with co-writer Joe Kelly.
“We wanted to make an old-school rom-com ‘cause we love old-school rom-coms, and we felt like we hadn’t seen a really great one in a long time,” Brett said.
After Regina received a few more treats and toys from the mystery jars, Jennifer was then asked what kind of person her own dogs might set her up on a date with.
“My dogs … one of them is blind, so I don’t think she’d be very picky,” Jennifer said. “If somebody comes over and pets her, she’s happy. But Tyson, I think he likes somebody who’s affectionate, who wants to pet. [He] likes a lot of PDA.”
Regina seemed to agree.
As Regina’s date drew to a close, Jennifer and Brett had one more surprise in store. They gifted her a basket full of toys to take along with her when she’s finally adopted.
When asked what his favorite part of the date was, Brett’s answer was clear:
“All of it. There wasn’t a bad bit.”
Fortunately, Regina didn’t stay single for long. Not long after the Dodo Dream Date ended, Regina was adopted by Dodo team member Abby.
Regina is now named Ladybug, and she's loving life with her new forever family.
"I met her while we were filming Dream Date and stole her from her celeb match," Abby said. "She is obsessed with people, loves tug and hates the squirrel that's menacing my garden."
Most importantly of all, she finally has a home to call her own.
