When Gus Alonso and Cynthia Gámez considered updating their living room with a new couch last year, their own color and style preferences weren’t the only things they kept in mind.
The couple wanted to be sure any new furniture would be a good fit for
their beloved dog, Macucha, too.
Evidently, the furniture store Gus and Cynthia planned to buy from doesn’t allow sweet dogs like Macucha inside to test out their products. So, the couple got creative.
They produced a life-size cardboard cutout of the pup to serve as her stand-in.
Then they headed off to the store — with Macucha’s look-alike in hand.
“Let's see how Maca looks in the living room,” Gus said. “You deserve it, my love.”
The couple tested out several couches and chairs, rating each based on how well the pup seemed to fit in:
And judging by Macucha’s reaction to the new furniture, her stand-in apparently did its job.
“She arrived [into our lives] fearful and wary,” the couple wrote. “She is now the most affectionate and loving soul … We love you, Maca — thank you for letting us be a part of your life!”
In the end, the best couch will always be the one she gets to share with them.
