The other day, a woman was shopping at a New Jersey Home Depot, looking for mulch in the garden department, when she heard a crying sound echoing above her head.
The woman looked up and saw a cardboard box with writing scrawled on the side.
“Be careful!”
the writing read. “New kittens.”
The woman found a manager and showed them the box. Home Depot staffers eventually deduced that a team member had noticed the kittens in the pallet and marked the box accordingly. Though the employee had acted with good intentions, leaving the kittens with hopes their mother would return, it was clear the kittens needed to be moved. They couldn’t remain in such a busy, dangerous area.
Luckily, the woman who spotted the box was already familiar with Rebecca’s Rescues, and she offered to take the kittens to a safe foster home.
The rescuers gently grabbed each kitten from their hiding place in the pallet, making sure all six were accounted for.
According to a representative from Rebecca’s Rescues, the kittens are currently safe in Brick Township with their foster mom, Kim. Home Depot employees have not yet spotted the kittens’ mother, but the babies are in good hands. Kim, an experienced foster parent, will continue bottle-feeding them and making sure they have everything they need to grow and thrive. Once they’re old enough, the kittens will be put up for adoption and matched with their forever families.
Thanks to this Home Depot shopper’s keen eye, these fluffy siblings finally have the care they deserve.
