The other day, Phontus Oktabec and his partner were staying at a campsite in Sweden when they had an unexpected encounter with an adorable local.
It all began with a noise in the distance.
While walking to the campground bathroom, the pair heard the unmistakable
sound of an aluminum can rolling across the paved path. Moving closer, they realized the can wasn’t being moved by the breeze, but rather by a wild hedgehog who was repeatedly nudging it along.
“My partner quickly picked up his phone and started filming, as this is an unusual sight,” Oktabec told The Dodo.
Exactly why the hedgehog was so fascinated by the can isn't clear. From Oktabec's perspective, though, she seemed to be having the time of her life.
“When she played with it for quite a while, I felt that she thought it was fun,” Oktabec said.
Once the hedgehog had wandered off, Oktabec picked up the discarded can. Though it may have provided a few moments of entertainment, discarded aluminum cans can also pose risks to wildlife.
The little hedgehog, by then, had already left quite the impression.
“It was really the highlight of the trip,” Oktabec said.
