What's Happening?
Williem Duong, a Year 9 student from Australia, is participating in the Intrepid Foundation's Blue Dragon Marathon Walk for the fifth consecutive year. This event aims to raise funds for children in Vietnam who have been trafficked, abused, or abandoned. Duong has raised over $7,000 since he began participating in 2021. The walk, which invites participants worldwide to take on challenges of varying distances, supports Blue Dragon, an organization that aids over 40,000 people affected by human trafficking annually. The Intrepid Foundation has partnered with Blue Dragon since 2018, raising over $1.5 million and helping change over 51,900 lives.
Why It's Important?
The Blue Dragon Marathon Walk is crucial in addressing human trafficking issues in Vietnam, providing essential support to vulnerable children. The funds raised help Blue Dragon continue its rescue operations and prevention efforts, offering education, vocational support, and legal advocacy. This initiative highlights the global impact of community-driven fundraising and the importance of international cooperation in tackling human trafficking. The event also raises awareness about the issue, encouraging more people to contribute to the cause and support affected communities.
What's Next?
The Intrepid Foundation aims to raise $500,000 in 2025 through the Blue Dragon Marathon Walk. Participants worldwide are encouraged to join the virtual walk on September 14, taking on challenges to support the cause. The foundation's continued partnership with Blue Dragon suggests ongoing efforts to expand its impact and reach more affected individuals. Future events may focus on increasing participation and fundraising, with potential collaborations with other organizations to enhance support for trafficked children.
