Three new Amrit Bharat Express trains in Kerala: Kerala is set to get three new Amrit Bharat trains and a passenger train this week. All the three Amrit Bharat trains will
be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the state tomorrow, January 23. What is so special about an Amrit Bharat train? Introduced on December 30, 2023, an Amrit Bharat train has locomotives at both ends for better acceleration. These modern trains have boosted the travel experience of the common people. The Amrit Bharat Express trains are a new category of superfast passenger trains in the country. Since its launch, 30 Amrit Bharat Express trains have already become operational and nine additional services are set to be introduced. These routes are believed to bolster connectivity by linking the eastern and sub-Himalayan regions with major destinations across southern, western and central India. The Amrit Bharat Express is designed to handle heavy passenger volumes, especially during festive seasons and peak migration periods. With fares of approximately Rs 500 per 1,000 kilometres and proportionately lower pricing for short and medium-distance journeys, the service follows a simple and transparent fare structure with no dynamic pricing. These trains are fully non-AC, configured with 11 general class coaches, 8 sleeper class coaches, 1 pantry car and 2 second class–cum–luggage–cum–guard vans with disabled-friendly compartments.
