Bengaluru-Mumbai train launched: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Sunday, May 17, virtually flagged off a train service between Bengaluru and Mumbai.
The South Western Railway (SWR) said the new service marks a major step in strengthening connectivity between Karnataka and Maharashtra. According to a statement, the railway minister said that the long-pending demands of people from South and North Karnataka are now being fulfilled. Bengaluru to Mumbai train timings
Train No. 16553 SMVT Bengaluru-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 8:35 pm every Tuesday and Saturday. This new train will operate twice every week. The train is scheduled to arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai at 8:40 pm the next day.
On its return journey, Train No. 16554 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-SMVT Bengaluru Express will leave Mumbai at 11:15 pm on Sundays and Wednesdays and reach Bengaluru at 10:30 pm on Mondays and Thursdays.
Bengaluru to Mumbai train route and stoppages
The SMVT Bengaluru-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express has 15 stoppages during its journey. The major halts include Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Miraj, Sangli, Karad, Satara, Pune, Lonavala, Karjat, Kalyan and Thane.
Regular services from Bengaluru will begin on May 23, while the Mumbai service will start from May 24.
Bengaluru to Mumbai train coach composition and frequency
The train will operate twice a week and feature 17 modern LHB coaches. Its composition includes one AC 2-tier coach, four AC 3-tier coaches, six sleeper class coaches, four general second-class coaches, one luggage-cum-brake van with a dedicated compartment for Divyangjan passengers, and one luggage-cum-generator car.
Bengaluru to Mumbai train ticket fare
The Sleeper Class fare between SMVT Bengaluru and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus has been fixed at Rs 750. Passengers travelling in AC 3-Tier will have to pay Rs 1,880, while the AC 2-Tier fare has been set at Rs 2,575.
Vande Bharat sleeper service between Bengaluru and Mumbai
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Vande Bharat sleeper service between Bengaluru and Mumbai is expected to start soon.
Highlighting infrastructure growth, Vaishnaw noted that railway funding has increased significantly in recent years, accelerating project execution across Karnataka.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 61 stations are being redeveloped for Rs 2,160 crore, of which nine have already been completed.
Bengaluru Cantonment station is being redeveloped for Rs 485 crore, while Yeshwantpur station is being upgraded at Rs 367 crore. Since 2014, around 1,750 km of new railway lines have been constructed in Karnataka.
