Vande Bharat Sleeper train: The wait is almost over now. The first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal
is all set to hit the tracks. The complete trial, testing, and certification of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train have been successfully completed. In the month of January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train on this route. With a newly designed bogie and a new suspension, the design parameters of the first-ever Vande Bharat sleeper train have been taken to a new level. Vande Bharat Sleeper train: What will passengers experience on Kolkata to Guwahati route
1. Starting with its design, as it is the look that catches the eye first. Well, the design parameters have been taken to a new level. Its interiors and ladders feature an ergonomic design, with special parameters implemented throughout for safety and security.
2. Moving ahead, the passengers no longer have to worry about safety as the Vande Bharat sleeper train is equipped with features such as automatic doors, the KAVACH safety system, improved fire safety mechanisms, disinfectant technology and CCTV surveillance in all coaches.
3. Hygiene is the utmost concern for travellers. Thus, the emphasis has also been laid on innovative design elements, particularly in toilets, to ensure improved hygiene and to prevent water splashes, reflecting Indian Railways’ focus on passenger comfort and cleanliness.
4. Food is yet another concern for travellers. The first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will operate between Guwahati in Assam and Howrah in West Bengal. Passengers on the train will enjoy region-specific culinary offerings during their journey. The train originating from Guwahati will feature authentic Assamese cuisine, while the train starting from Kolkata will serve traditional Bengali delicacies, ensuring a delightful and culturally rich dining experience on board.
5. The train’s 16-coach formation includes 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach, together accommodating around 823 passengers.
6. The service will operate between Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya), directly connecting eastern and northeastern India with a faster overnight option.
7. In Assam, Kamrup Metropolitan and Bongaigaon will be covered. In West Bengal, the train will pass through Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Maldah, Murshidabad, Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, and Howrah.

Vande Bharat Sleeper train ticket prices for the upcoming Guwahati-Kolkata route are expected to be around Rs 2,300 for AC 3-Tier, Rs 3,000 for AC 2-Tier, and Rs 3,600 for AC 1st Class.
