US-Iran War Live Updates: US President Donald Trump said a deal between the United States and Iran is scheduled to be signed later in the day on Sunday (June 14), adding that the Strait of Hormuz would be "open to all" once the agreement takes effect.
Trump's remarks came after Pakistan said preparations were under way for the electronic signing of an agreement and that a deal could be finalised within 24 hours, raising expectations of a potential breakthrough in efforts to end the conflict.
The proposed
agreement is expected to address issues including Iran's nuclear programme and security in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.
Trump also said the United States would destroy Iran's remaining nuclear material under the terms of the proposed deal and warned that Washington had alternative options if negotiations failed.
