An earthquake of 5.7 magnitude struck Mexico on late Sunday, February 8.
According to the Mexico's National Seismological Service, the 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck at 9:42 pm (local time) in Oaxaca region.
The epicentre of the quake was found to be located in Puerto Escondido area, and the depth was found to be 17 km below the earth's surface.
No casualties or destruction to property were reported so far.
Following the first quake, another earthquake struck the country on the early morning of Monday, February 9, at 2:26 am (local time)
The magnitude of the second tremors were recorded to be 4.1, located in Huixtla area of Chiapas region.
It's depth was about 13.3 km below the surface.
News agency Reuters reported that a seismic alarm also went off in Mexico City but shaking was not felt in the capital.
