More than eight years after it was launched into space, Elon Musk’s cherry red Tesla Roadster continues to travel around the Sun, making it one of the most unusual objects ever sent into orbit. It all began on February 6, 2018, when SpaceX successfully test-launched its powerful Falcon Heavy rocket for the first time from Kennedy Space Centre’s Launch Complex 39A in Florida.
Instead of using a standard test payload, the SpaceX CEO decided to send his personal Tesla Roadster into space. Inside the car was a mannequin named Starman dressed in a spacesuit.
Recently, a X user, who goes by the name ‘DogeDesigner’, remembered this famous mission and said, “Elon Musk sending a Tesla into space remains one of the most iconic and entertaining moments in SpaceX history.”
The post caught Musk’s attention in no time.

The car is currently about 191.7 million kilometres away from Earth and is slowly moving closer to our planet.
At the same time, it is about 280.9 million kilometres from Mars and moving farther away from it. The Roadster is also around 248.3 million kilometres from the Sun.
Since its launch in February 2018, the car has completed more than five trips around the Sun and has travelled over 6.6 billion kilometres through space.
