What to expect from the Fed FOMC meeting?

Markets broadly expect the Fed to hold interest rates steady at this meeting, despite inflation data coming in hotter than anticipated. Bond traders have priced in a low probability of a rate hike on Wednesday, according to CME Group data cited by Yahoo Finance.

The focus is likely to shift to Warsh’s comments on inflation, the timing of any further rate increases and the policy outlook for December. Minutes from the Fed’s September meeting indicated that most policymakers considered another rate hike by the end of the year appropriate, although officials remain divided over whether to act sooner or wait for more economic data.

Higher oil prices have also added to inflation concerns. Gold prices edged lower on Wednesday as investors awaited the Fed’s decision for clues on the direction of interest rates, according to the market update shared in the source material.

The Fed’s final policy meeting of 2026 is scheduled for December 8–9. That meeting will include a Summary of Economic Projections, offering further insight into policymakers’ expectations for interest rates and the US economy in 2027.
